A Refined Provençal Lifestyle in the Heart of Lorgues
Nestled in the charming Provençal town of Lorgues, the house offers guests an authentic yet refined experience of Southern France. Life here unfolds at an unhurried pace, where quality, craftsmanship, and simple pleasures take center stage.
Start your mornings like a local. Just a short walk away, the White Bakery is renowned for what many consider the best croissants in town, alongside excellent artisanal bread. Another favorite is L’Autre Pain, a high-quality bakery where guests staying longer can enjoy quantity discounts. Conveniently located next door is a delightful greengrocer offering fresh, seasonal produce sourced from the region.
Every Tuesday morning from 8:00 to approximately 13:00, Lorgues comes alive with its celebrated weekly market. Wander through stalls overflowing with sun-ripened fruits, vegetables, cheeses, olives, herbs, fresh fish, and regional specialties. The market is easily reached via Rue du Canal, leading you directly into the heart of town.
For coffee lovers, a discreet local secret awaits: the best coffee in town is served at a small fashion boutique with outdoor seating, located near the Roger et Jenin sign and opposite Hotel du Parc. It is an ideal spot to pause, sip, and watch Provençal life unfold.
On Friday and Saturday evenings, parts of the town center are closed to traffic, allowing restaurants to extend their tables into the streets. Dining outdoors under the open sky, surrounded by warm lights and lively conversation, is one of Lorgues’ most charming traditions.
Nature, Culture and Timeless Provence
The surrounding area offers an abundance of exceptional natural and cultural experiences.
A must-see is the spectacular Cascade de Sillans, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Provence, set amidst lush greenery. For those seeking a quieter moment, there is also a smaller, lesser-known waterfall nearby, ideal for a peaceful escape into nature.
The countryside around Château Berne invites gentle walks through vineyards and forests, while strolls near the town’s historic church offer panoramic views and a sense of timeless calm. Within Lorgues itself, a marked walking route leads you through historic buildings linked to the era of the Knights Templar, revealing layers of fascinating local heritage.
A short drive away lies Trans-en-Provence, where you can wander through the old village down to the river and enjoy an elegant meal at Le Moulin de la Gardiole, a highly regarded restaurant set in a beautiful natural setting.
Nearby Aups, known as the truffle capital of Provence, is well worth a visit, especially for lovers of gastronomy and local markets.
For a truly unforgettable experience, the majestic Gorges du Verdon offers breathtaking landscapes, turquoise waters, and dramatic cliffs — one of Europe’s most remarkable natural wonders.
